About Us

Music for Galway was established in 1981 when a group of people came together with the aim of providing audiences in the West of Ireland with a range of opportunities to listen to world class musicians. Since then the organisation has presented hundreds of inspiring and stimulating performances in Galway. This year artists from over a dozen countries from four different continents will visit Galway, the musical groups ranging from solo piano to full symphony orchestra and their musical offerings include early music, classical and romantic music, contemporary and jazz — something for everybody!

 

We also invite you to meet composers, writers and artists and offer you some guided tours to forthcoming programmes.

 

This year our January Festival FANTASIES AND FAIRYTALES is dedicated to the music of Robert Schumann and we celebrate the by-centenary of Haydn's death, 250 years of Handel's death in 2009, and the by-centenary of Chopin's and Schumann's birth in 2010.
